A dental crown restores the appearance and function of a damaged tooth. Dr. Crawford-McKendall may recommend a crown for your child if they have one or more teeth that is severely chipped, cracked, or decayed.

Dental crowns can:

  1. Protect a weak tooth from breaking
  2. Hold a cracked tooth together
  3. Cover and support a damaged or decayed tooth
  4. Cover a severely discolored tooth
  5. Restore a broken tooth

Also, dental crowns are often used as part of root canal therapy to preserve the remaining tooth structure.

Once treatment is complete, your child should continue routine brushing and flossing.
